Light as Primary Tool
The difference between good and great cosplay photography is almost always light. Soft, directional natural light — open shade, golden hour — creates dimensional quality that shows costume texture and the human form simultaneously. Hard direct light flattens both. Heidi shoots outdoors in natural light wherever possible.
Environment as Narrative
The best cosplay photography places the character in a world, not just in front of a background. Heidi has shot in forests, ruins, and pools — choosing environments that extend the character's world into reality.
Camera Height and the Full Bust
Camera at or above eye level creates balanced frames for full-busted cosplayers. The three-quarter turn creates silhouette depth. Character posing reflects the character's world rather than generic modelling.
